who and where i am

My name is Connor Joseph Bell (b. 1979 in Oshkosh, WI USA). Right now I’m living in Beechmont, a beautiful neighborhood in south Louisville with two wonderful little dachshunds that bring so much joy to my life. I’m a passionate person and spend my time pursuing knowledge and creativity. My curiosity feels insatiable and being creative, primarily through music, is an outlet for all that can’t be expressed so easily in life. After all, words are only one way to express oneself.

I’ll keep an archive of these little essays linked with my writing samples. I didn’t really intend this to be a blog, and it’s certainly not a regular update, but I do like that I can trace a bit of a line by looking these over.

24.03.02: Well, I’m back in the soup right when I thought I had found the new normal. My friends in tech have said this isn’t that uncommon and it’s my ‘welcome to our world’ moment. Even the experience of being blindsided didn’t seem surprising to them. Being laid off is a new feeling for me, so it’s been quite a stretch.

With all that said, I’m currently seeking new employment. I’ve returned to working with Python in the fantastic class by Angela Yu on Udemy called “100 Days of Python”, which has been slowed by finally getting COVID for the first time as well as all the strain of being unemployed and the time invested into seeking new work. Slow and steady wins the race, as those of us who know Aesop might say.

I will continue to bring my authenticity, passion, and curiosity to any challenge. I continue to believe in our innate ability to learn new things. I continue to believe that the multitude of transferable skills from my time as a teacher in an elite school will allow me to thrive in new career directions. I continue to know I will reward folks who invest in me with a genuine commitment. I’m not someone who wants to bounce around.

I’d be delighted to talk if you know of any opportunities for folks exploring new career directions.
